This workshop is part of the Kundinyasa Teacher Training which has been opened to the public. It is for serious students or yoga teachers who are interested in deepening their knowledge and understanding of the breath, and how regulating the breath is used in yoga to: balance and master the mind, increase health and vitality, and greatly enhance meditation allowing one to experience elevated states of consciousness (Samadhi-Super Conscious state). You will learn about the 5 Pranas or Vayus (winds) which are responsible for the activities of taking in life force energy, excretion, expression, digestion, and a governing Vayu that assists the other 4 in overall functioning. You will also learn pranayama techniques to experience all of the effects listed above including hopefully a low level of samadhi-Super Conscious state.
Essential to any serious yoga practice is the basic understanding and application of bhandas,or locks to help move the energy of consciousness (kundalini) up the spine through the seven major energy centers or chakras. You will learn the proper application of the three bhandas: mula bhanda (root lock), udiana bhanda (diaphram lock), and jalandhara banda (neck lock), and how they can be used together to perform mahabhanda or tribhanda. The bhandas are an essential part of kundalini yoga and can be used to enhance the effectiveness of any yoga practice.
